US stocks retreat, risk-off intact

US stocks are down in early trading as risk-off mood stays intact following Monday’s slide and due to drop in Asian and European equities.

At the time of writing, Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) was down 0.70% or 126 points. S&P 500 index was down 0.90% or 18 points. Nasdaq was down 0.86% or 38 points.

Top losers from the DJIA index included names like Cisco, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, and American Express. Meanwhile, winning side included J&J, Pfizer and Procter&Gamble.

In bond market, the 10-yr treasury yield was down more than six basis points at 1.717%. The dollar index was trading 0.22% higher on the day around 94.80 levels. Gold was up 1.21% at $1234 levels.
